It introduces the main findings and recommendations of the chapters in the book, highlighting the war-like impacts and damages the pandemic has inflicted on the two countries in terms of separation and decoupling, information warfare and cognitive dissonance, as well as the stimulation of nationalist sentiments and anti-Asian racism. By providing an outline of the book's content, this chapter sets the stage for an interdisciplinary and multi-dimensional assessment of the pandemic's broad-reaching consequences on this bilateral relationship. © The Editor(s) (if applicable) and The Author(s) 2024.
