Perspectives on Cognitive Security : Proceedings of the Finnish Symposium on Cognitive Defence
Curator note
Human conflicts, war, and research on conflicts and war have always called attention to different aspects of warfare from combat to economy and to politics. One of the newest dimensions is cognitive warfare, which refers to the use of human cognition, information processing, and knowledge in conflicts, and where the battle ground is the human mind. The modern version of this way of thinking is still in statu nascendi and closely linked to the emergence of information societies and their development towards intelligent societies.
The prevailing modes of thinking for extending actions of warfare to times of peace and increasingly targeted on civil societies make it reasonable to discuss defending from cognitive warfare in terms of cognitive security. This book represents a part of the emergence of cognitive security as a novel field of research in Finland. It is a visible output of the work conducted in a larger network of experts interested in developing the knowledge and practice of cognitive defence.
