The cardinality estimation of destructive information influence types in social networks
Abstract
The research focuses on the problem of using social networks as a tool for organization and support of information warfare and as a set of means for confrontation with the objectionable state regimes and individuals. Modern information and communication technologies allow bypassing state borders and turn state and commercial structures, public organizations and ordinary people into free broadcasters of information. Everyday a huge amount of diverse information is generated via social networks with the use of different software and hardware platforms. Such information can be embedded with destructive informational influences: promotion of radical ideas and recruitment to the organizations prohibited by UN, suicidal content, drug distribution, incitement to ethnic and religious hatred, undermining state system and formation of the negative perception of legitimately elected authorities. Obviously, monitoring of this area raises the problem of timely identification of such influences. In this research we developed an analytical system using decision trees and classification trees to identify and structure social networks by the types of destructive informational influences. The result of this research is the allocation of segments by the size of destructive informational influences presented in social networks. This study is noteworthy because it allows evaluating social networks not as a tool for communication, but as a tool for achievement the objectives in the information warfare.
