Uninhabited combat aerial vehicles: Who's driving?
Abstract
While the acronym UCAV stands for Uninhabited Combat Aerial Vehicles, it might alternatively be associated with Unspecified, Collaborative, Adaptive and Vulnerable systems. The alternative label emphasizes the fact that the technology of remotely piloted vehicles is only a small part of what is known as Information Warfare. In this regard, Rasmussen's approach to cognitive systems engineering (CSE) is reviewed as a possible framework for designing the interfaces and support systems needed to effectively manage the information technology.
